Sad and droopy
Shapeless and unflattering. The tie wrap is too low and ends up looking baggy rather than sleekly wrapped. I had a L and could easily have gone done to a M or even a S.

way too big on top
Way, way, too big on top. Shoulders almost falling off and a cami underneath was too visible. I wished I had tried a 10 or even an 8. I probably had a bit of room below the waist and could have pulled off a smaller size. But as others have noted this dress is unusually thin fabric for what I have normally gotten in DVF wraps and static cling was occurring. So not sure I would have wanted thinner, clingy material a size down on the bottom?

Too long for the shortwaisted gals
I rented this based on the reviews and it is a well-made attractive dress. But if you are on the shorter side (5'4") and shortwaisted, short in the torso, I don't think this will fit. The natural waist of the dress hit way too low, throwing everything off including the placement of the gathered ruffle part. I would say it was easily 3" too long from shoulder to hip, for me. Perhaps if I had gone down to an 8, but it was form-fitting at 10.

Adorable and easy to wear
Lovely work dress, fun to pair with high-heeled boots and a black trench. A smidge big for me, could have gone with an 8 even though I'm almost always a 10. Smocked back makes the dress forgiving without being stretchy.

I really don't know why this dress gets so many great reviews- I'm a fan of the boxy or swing style that doesn't have waist definition but this one had easily 3-4" too much matter across horizontally. And then the upper arms were tight, so I'm not sure sizing down to a M would have worked. Didn't end up wearing, looked really nightgown-ish.

VERY comfortable, felt fabulous
I really needed the 10R or even 10P but it wasn't available. I'm 5'4". I wore my highest heels and still was afraid I was going to step on the inside hem. Was a bit too long from shoulder to waist as well but it never rode up or gapped. Extremely well made. No bra needed (very, very surprising to me.) Probably the most comfortable formal dress I've ever worn. Very flattering. The material is stretchy polyester which is not very luxurious, however, it covers a multitude of bumps and rolls, lol. It is a very heavy, winter dress with a heavy black fabric, a lace overlay a nude part, and also a black lining slip. (you can see I'm wearing a fur with it.) Would not work for me for a spring/summer event.
