The ruching is flattering, and the fabric is thick, so no need for shapewear. I did wear a stick-on bra, because the neckline caused my bra strap to show on one side. This dress was super comfortable, with a good amount of stretch, but probably better suited to a cocktail party than a dance party. The thigh slit was a bit daring for the event I attended, but looked classy with dark sheer hose. I usually wear a size 10-12us, and the medium was just perfect.

This is a stretchy, draping dress. The ruching is very forgiving and no need for special undergarments. This dress is large, definitely add a backup size. I’m usually a size 10us, and the size 8 and 8P were a better match. I ordered the petite because the other reviews said it was very loose in the shoulders. Strangely, the shoulders seemed awkwardly loose in the petite, but nicely draped in the regular. I did not end up wearing the dress due to inclement weather- went with a long-sleeved gown- but I would rent this again for a formal event in spring or fall.
