Perfect black dress for a night out!

I needed a black dress for a gala and wasn't entirely confident on sizing still being fairly recently postpartum. I ordered both a M (pre-pregnancy size) and L and ended up going with the large given fit across my hips (~41"). Sometimes dresses that hug my hips just right end up being too big at the bust/chest/pits -- not the case with this one! It was slimming top to bottom and black always looks classy. I was able to throw a shawl on to complete the look (and stay warmer in a frigid indoor venue). Would definitely rent this dress again!

Cute in photos -- maternity dress IRL

I was so excited for this dress (and love Of Mercer) -- it's a perfect color and looks like a great work staple. However, it turned out to be a dress of nightmares. The fabric was ridiculously heavy; while it doesn't wrinkle, it felt almost like a piece of outerwear and not a fun/flirty dress. The fit should work on my 5'10" hourglass frame but regrettably the waistline made it look like a maternity dress.

Elegant dress -- and color -- to wear to a military ball!

I am 5'10" 36A pear-shaped. I was torn between the 4R and 6R. I tried the 4R on in a RTR store but ultimately decided that it was a bit too snug across the hips, leaving stretch marks in the fabric. The downside to the 6R was that my shoulders weren't quite muscular enough to fill out the off-the-shoulder straps; fashion tape was used to ensure the straps didn't droop off of my shoulders throughout the evening. As a 36A, I also needed a push-up bra to fill the dress out; a B-cup (or bigger) would probably be able to get away without a bra as there is built in padding for it. Despite these two quibbles, I was really happy in the dress. It was an elegant choice for the pomp and circumstance of a military ball; lots of compliments on the fit and color too throughout the night. Because I am tall and the dress was long, I also did not have to wear heels. (Anyone shorter than 5'10" would probably need at least 1/2" heels so the hem doesn't drag.) As other reviews have noted, the dress definitely shows off all your curves -- but for me, I think it was a good thing :)

An evening ball made perfect by a stunning, comfortable dress!

The dress fit absolutely perfectly. (And got lots of compliments from my boyfriend and his peers throughout the evening!) I wore flats, as the bottom hemline just skimmed the tops of my feet. It was an extremely comfortable dress, not itchy or anything as lace sometimes can be, and allowed for ease of movement throughout the evening. No need for fancy bras/panties, as anything that is no-show and/or skin-tone will work well. A dress that I would wear again...or buy if the chance arises!
