I typically wear a 14/16 and wore the 16 for the wedding. It fit a bit tight around the top (shoulder/under arm) but I liked that it was tight so that I didn't have to worry about it slipping or falling. The only issue with this dress was that it kept sliding and turning. It may have been the undergarments I was wearing, but the dress kept turning and the slit ended up in the middle of my legs and the one shoulder strap was digging into my arm. Other than that, the dress was very comfortable and flattering. I am 5'5 and wore 2-3" heels, and the length was perfect, I was not tripping over the dress at all.
